Socits are cute little creatures that come in a variety of types and species. Most are about the size of a typical housecat, and their intelligence can vary from that of a toad to that of a brilliant human, though most are somewhere in the middle. Besides being adoptables in their own right, Socits can also be 'equipped' to a Glassgryph. Depending on the Socit's type and eye color, equipping a Glassgryph with one can result in some interesting effects.
You do not have to own a Glassgryph to own a Socit!

Equipping a Socit
When you buy or win a Socit, you can choose to 'equip' it to a Glassgryph that you own, essentially making it a pet of the Glassgryph. Depending on the type and eye color, this could have an affect on your Glassgryph, such as changing a feature, adding a color, and so on. Each Glassgryph can only have one Socit equipped at a time.
Socit Swap
Socits can only be equipped or unequipped during a Socit Swap, a trading and equipping session. If you do not equip your Socit when you first buy or win it, you can only equip it during this time. During the Swap, users can also trade Socits among themselves. Socits may not be sold for any currency.
For more information on what actions can be taken during a Socit Swap, please see the Socit Swap Board on the Glassgryphs forum.
Types and Species
There are currently six different Socit types, each with one or more different species. Below is a list of the different types, and the species for every type.
Earth Socits
These Socits have their feet planted firmly on the ground, and it takes a lot to get them worked up. Their potential affect when equipped is to change and add traits to Glassgryphs.
 | Species name: Saurian |
 | Species name: All |
 | Species name: Kinta |
 | Species name: Akti |
 | Species name: Buun |
Air Socits
These Socits are in their element in the sky, and don't like to be confined. Their potential affect when equipped is to seek out other Socits, Glassgryphs, and items.
 | Species name: Fliit |
 | Species name: Biita |
 | Species name: Amiis |
Fire Socits
These Socits have fiery personalities and temperments. Their potential affect when equipped is to change non-visible aspects of a Glassgryph, such as gender and fertility.
 | Species name: Elo |
 | Species name: Avire |
 | Species name: Dralca |
 | Species name: Nain |
Water Socits
These Socits stick to the water, and generally have cheerful personalities. They potentially have miscellaneous effects when equipped, such as allowing a Glassgryph to equip more than one Socit.
 | Species name: Selon |
 | Species name: Tortil |
 | Species name: Baeta |
Light Socits
These Socits are the embodiment of all things good. Their potential effect when equipped is to alter the Glassgryph's kittens, such as by adding traits or to guarantee twins or triplets.
 | Species name: Unihorn |
Dark Socits
These Socits are the embodiment of all things.. well, bad. They tend to effect the Glassgryph that they are equipped to in a good way, but there's always a price to pay.
 | Species name: Basisk |
 | Species name: Wyn |
Eye Colors and Effects
A Socit's eye color reveals what it will do to a Glassgryph when equipped. Each type has an eye color with no effect, but the other colors will all do something different. New eye colors and effects are being discovered all the time, so don't worry that this table looks a little empty currently!
| Earth | Air | Fire | Water | Dark | Light |
| Red | Adds forehead gem | - | No effect | Equip 3 Socits at once | Glassgryph has dragon wings, but fertility is lowered to 10% | - |
| Orange | Gives flames trait | Finds a random sushi | - | - | - | - |
| Yellow | - | - | Always has twins | - | No effect | - |
| Green | - | - | - | - | 80% chance of killing gryph, 20% chance of new trait | Kittens have dragon wings |
| Blue | - | No effect | Changes female to male | No effect | - | No effect |

Breeding
Socit breedings largely follow the same rules as Glassgryph breedings, so please read that page for more information on guidelines on how breedings for Glassgryphs and Socits work.
The main things to keep in mind are:
- To apply for a breeding, you need a male and a female Socit, or permission to use someone else's Socits. There are no mandatory breeding items.
- If using someone else's Socits, you must have permission from the owner to apply with them.
- Each person may submit one breeding application. If offspring result from the breeding, they will go to the person who submitted the application.
- Males can breed twice per breeding season, females can breed once. This means that two people can apply for a breeding using the same male Socit.
- There is a limit of two breeding items per application. If the breeding is not succesful, you will keep your breeding items.
Of course, there is some Socit-specific breeding information as well.
Colors and Markings
Colors are generally a mixture of the colors of the parents, though the kit's coloration also has a chance of leaning more towards the mother's or father's coloration. Breeding a pale or white Socit to a bright Socit may result in a kit with pastel coloration, breeding a dark or black Socit to a pale Socit could result in a dark or pale kit, or anywhere in between, and so on.
Socit kits have coloration that reflects their type more than the markings and colors they will have as an adult. For example, baby Water Socits are mostly blue, and baby Light Socits are mostly white. A baby Socit's colors are not necessarily a reflection of their adult coloration.
Types, Species, and Hybrids
When arranging a Socit breeding, it's important to keep in mind that the types and species of the parents will have an effect on the success of the breeding.
- Both parents are the same type and species - 70% chance of success
- Both parents are the same type, different species - 50% chance of success, chance of hybrid offspring
- Parents are different types and species - 30% chance of success, chance of hybrid offspring
As you can see, breeding two Socits of different species does mean there's a chance that their offspring will be a hybrid of the two species. This is a very slim chance, however, and it's more likely the offspring will be of one species or the other. If breeding two Socits of different types, there's a very very slim chance that the offspring will be a new hybrid type.
If you're the first person to breed a hybrid, you get to name the new species!
Effects
Every bred Socit has a chance of having an effect, and breeding two Socits with effects does not guarantee that their offspring will also have an effect. Although the chance of a bred Socit having an effect is still very small, the chance is slightly increased if one of the parents has an effect, and slightly increased further if both parents have an effect.
Equipping
Socits can only be equipped when grown. When a bred Socit grows to adulthood, you will have the chance to equip it to a Glassgryph that you own at that time.
